About This Coffee

The Alchemist is an experimental natural Rwandan coffee from Gasharu Farms that captures the increasingly modern and expressive direction of specialty coffee processing in Rwanda.

Produced from Bourbon varieties at around 1,750 metres above sea level, this anaerobic natural lot was created with a strong focus on connection — not just between processing and flavour, but between producer and consumer. The project reflects the producer family’s belief that coffee should feel less fragmented, bringing growers, processors, roasters and drinkers closer together through a more transparent and intentional approach to coffee production.

Compared to the previous harvest, the 2025 release feels cleaner and more refined while still delivering the intense fruit character that made the coffee so memorable. Expect vibrant notes of tropical fruit, ripe fruit sweetness and cocoa nibs, supported by a rounded body and a smooth, layered finish.

The anaerobic natural processing amplifies the coffee’s fruit intensity and depth while maintaining impressive balance and clarity in the cup. Rather than becoming overly heavy or aggressively fermented, The Alchemist manages to stay expressive while still feeling structured and approachable.

This is a coffee that feels modern, fruit-forward and experimental, while still preserving the elegance and sweetness that make high-quality Rwandan coffees so compelling.
