NOMAD – Gahahe 250g | Burundi
About This Coffee
Gahahe is a benchmark Burundi lot and a long-standing favourite at NOMAD, sourced for the eighth consecutive year from the renowned washing station in Kayanza. Sitting at 1,805 metres, the station works with a network of smallholder farmers and is known for its scale, precision, and commitment to quality. Alongside meticulous processing, Gahahe plays a central role in local sustainability initiatives, supporting farmers through agronomic training, organic fertiliser programmes, and replanting efforts to combat aging coffee trees.
Cherries are selectively hand-picked and undergo flotation and manual sorting before being pulped within hours of delivery. The coffee is then dry fermented for up to 12 hours, followed by a 12–24 hour soak in clean mountain water to enhance clarity. Drying takes place on raised beds over two to three weeks, with regular turning to ensure even moisture reduction and remove defects.
The result is a bright, expressive cup with notes of tangerine, roasted pineapple and delicate florals. Juicy acidity, balanced sweetness and a clean, refreshing finish make this a standout filter coffee.
Freshly roasted by NOMAD Coffee in Barcelona and imported to the UK by ROAST EDIT Co.
