TANAT – Rumudamo [Natural] 200g | Ethiopia
Rumudamo is a well-known station in Sidama, and this lot is grown at 2,200 metres using the 74112 variety — one of the JARC selections that's become closely associated with the clean, fruit-forward style Sidama has built its reputation on. Rumudamo processes both natural and washed lots each season; this is the natural side of that split, with cherries dried whole rather than pulped first, letting the fruit ferment slowly against the parchment all the way through drying.
That slower, fruit-in-contact drying is what gives naturals their layered, fruit-driven character, and it comes through cleanly here without tipping into the heavier, more fermented register some naturals lean toward. Peach and wild berries lead the cup, with a fig note settling in behind them and rounding out the finish — a naturally sweet, fruit-forward profile rather than an overtly boozy or funky one.
It's a well-executed, unfussy Sidama natural rather than an experimental one — no extended anaerobic holds, no elaborate fermentation staging, just a straightforward drying process applied to a variety and altitude that were already working in its favour. That makes it a good everyday filter option: approachable, clean, and genuinely fruity. It's from the 2025 harvest and scored 88.
