DAK – Jazz Fruits 250g | Ethiopia
About This Coffee
Jazz Fruits is DAK Coffee Roasters' entry-level espresso from Ethiopia — a natural community lot from Bensa, Sidama, processed in collaboration with Daye Bensa under the Iron Lion lot name. DAK describe it as one of the best picks they've made in terms of price-to-quality, and the profile bears that out: juicy, fruity, and expressively approachable.
Daye Bensa is one of the most active and respected exporters working in Sidama, specialising in community lots that bring together smallholder farmers from a single area into one high-quality, traceable lot. The Iron Lion lot sources its cherries from the Bensa area at an altitude of 2000 metres, where local landrace varieties grow in the rich, volcanic soil typical of southern Ethiopia's highland growing regions.
Natural processing means the whole cherry dries with the bean inside, allowing the fruit sugars to penetrate the coffee over several weeks on raised drying beds. Bensa naturals are known for their fruit-driven intensity and creamy texture — a character that Daye Bensa has developed into one of the most consistent house styles in Ethiopian specialty coffee.
The cup is exactly what you'd expect from a well-made Bensa natural: stone fruits and berries at the front, white chocolate sweetness at the base, and a creamy mouthfeel that carries everything together. It works well both as a straight espresso and as the base of a flat white, with enough clarity to hold up to milk without disappearing.
Freshly roasted by DAK Coffee Roasters and imported to the UK by ROAST EDIT Co.
