About This Coffee

Pretty Nuts is a Brazilian espresso from Sítio Beija Flor in Campanha, Mantiqueira de Minas — a boozy, creamy lot from the Arara variety that represents one of the more unusual profiles in the current DAK Coffee Roasters lineup. Where most Brazilian espressos lean into chocolate and nuts, Pretty Nuts takes a detour through Grand Marnier and forest fruits first.

Sítio Beija Flor is a dedicated specialty project in the Campanha area of Minas Gerais, run by Natalia and Augusto. The farm sits in Mantiqueira de Minas, one of Brazil's most celebrated specialty coffee regions and a recognised Geographical Indication for consistently high-quality, altitude-grown lots since 2011. Arara is the variety grown here — a newer Brazilian cultivar developed through crossing programs that regularly appears among the highest-scoring Brazilian coffees in competition and has attracted significant attention from roasters across the specialty market.

Extended fermentation natural processing takes the Arara variety's inherent character and amplifies it. The cherries ferment whole, skin on, for a longer period than conventional natural processing, allowing the fruit layer to fully integrate with the bean and develop the boozy, intense fruit esters that define Pretty Nuts' distinctive profile. DAK note this version runs more intense than the last, leaning harder into the boozy and creamy qualities that set this lot apart.

The cup is rich and loaded: peanut butter up front, Grand Marnier behind it, forest fruits running underneath. Works well as a concentrated espresso or alongside milk.

Freshly roasted by DAK Coffee Roasters and imported to the UK by ROAST EDIT Co.
