Manhattan – Kebena Decaf 250g | Ethiopia
About This Coffee
Kebena Decaf is a beautifully expressive Ethiopian decaf that proves caffeine-free coffee does not have to compromise on flavour or complexity.
Produced by Haider Abamecha at Limu Kossa in Ethiopia’s Jimma Zone, this lot undergoes traditional washed processing before being decaffeinated in Germany using the natural EA (ethyl acetate) method derived from sugarcane. The result is a cup that retains remarkable sweetness, clarity and structure while remaining smooth and approachable.
Expect notes of grape, bramble and caramelized almond, supported by a rounded mouthfeel and gentle sweetness.
The coffee itself comes from Haider’s original Limu Kossa farm, situated between 1,865 and 2,090 metres above sea level. Here, Ethiopian varieties including JARC 74110 and 74112 are grown in rich high-altitude conditions that help produce the vibrant fruit character and layered sweetness Ethiopia is known for.
Haider Abamecha has worked in coffee for more than 30 years, beginning as a small-scale supplier before establishing his export business in 2011. Today, he manages extensive farms and collection networks across the region while continuing to invest heavily in quality, sustainability and local communities.
Decaf coffees are often expected to taste muted or overly roasted, but Kebena retains the lively fruit and elegant structure that make Ethiopian coffees so distinctive. For us, it is a reminder of just how far modern decaffeination has come.
Freshly roasted by Manhattan Coffee Roasters in Rotterdam and imported to the UK by ROAST EDIT Co.
